Blow for Arsenal as Bayern make €35m swoop for summer target – reports

Arsenal appears to have been hit with a huge blow with reports claiming Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have made a €35m swoop to sign the Gunners transfer target Gelson Martins.

According to a report from Goal via Calcio Mercat, the Bavarians have come in with an offer to sign Martins as they look to strike a deal for the Portugal international.

The player is current plying his trade in Ligue 1 with AS Monaco after struggling to find his feet with Spanish side Atletico Madrid.

So far since joining the Ligue 1 side, the winger has netted three goals with one assist in seven Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco.

The winger, who joined Monaco in January, joined his principal club on a free transfer from Sporting Lisbon at the start of the season, after he terminated his contract at the Portuguese outfit due a number of off-field issues with the club.

Arsenal are said to be in the race for the winger’s signature, but are yet to make an official move for the winger as Bayern Munich look set to steal a march on their rivals ahead of the summer transfer window.

It all remains to be seen with which team Gelson Martins end up with in the summer.
