Arsenal new head-coach Unai Emery has shared what his thoughts are regarding Mesut Ozil’s performance against Cardiff City on Sunday.
The Gunners 3-2 win at Cardiff makes it their second win of the season. It was Alexander Lacazette’s late goal that secured the winning for the Emirates club.
Mesut Ozil was a surprise inclusion in Emery’s starting eleven against the newly promoted side after the German missed out in his side last weekend’s encounter due to reported illness.
Ozil played a huge role in his side’s victory and he was substituted off after playing up to .84 minutes.
At the end of this, Emery stated that he was very impressed by his performance and said that his performance in second half was particularly an outstanding one.
In the post-match press conference, the Spanish boss said:
“I give every player the same condition and every player is very important.
“But Ozil with his quality I think we need him to give us his moments in the match with his quality.
“I think today in the second half he played a good match, he worked every minute he was on the pitch.
“Maybe in the second half when we had more control with the ball and in possession, with his position on the pitch I think he feels better.”
Arsenal will back in action after the international break on September 15 against Newcastle United. Mesut Ozil has registered three appearances for Arsenal this season but he’s yet to score a goal or create an assist.
