Arsenal Agree To Trigger £35m Clause As Emery Closes-In On Man United Target

Sevilla sporting director Joaquin Caparros has revealed that the club could sanction the sale of Steven N'Zonzi to Arsenal this summer, provided the Gunners can trigger the £35m release clause in his contract.

The former Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers midfielder has made strong start in his game since joining the La Liga side in 2015 and he has of late been associated with a reunion with ex-Sevilla boss Unai Emery at Arsenal.

In an exclusive interview with Radio Seville, the sporting director was asked whether the French player could join Arsenal during the summer transfer window to which Caparros replied in an asserting manner.

Caparros started off by dismissing any contact by the North London club or their new boss regarding the signing of the France international and he went on that N'Zonzi would not be sold unless the escape clause in his contract is activated.

N'Zonzi is said to have a £35m on his release clause with the La Liga club which would be deemed relatively affordable for a club's of Arsenal's calibre but there are suggestions that their new head-coach has only been given pre-sales transfer budget of just £50m for the summer.

In light of this, the Spaniard will have to be cautions of his spending's in the summer and would not want to throw all the £35m on a single player and may consider the sale of some players from the squad before spending on N'Zonzi.
