[Tweets] ITK: BBC journalist latest update on Arsene Wenger's replacement

Well-known and respected BBC journalist David Ornstein has delivered an update on Arsenal's search for a new manager and says the club isn't close to naming who Arsene Wenger's replacement is.

The Gunners have been on the look out for a new man to replace the Frenchman since he announced late last month that he'll leave the club at the end of the season following almost 22-years as the club's manager.

Several managers have been named as possible candidate to replace Wenger over the past few weeks with former player Mikel Arteta, Luis Enrique, Max Allegri, Patrick Vieira and Leonardo Jardim among those linked with the Arsenal job.

However, only the trio of Arteta, Allegri and Vieira have emerged as the bookmakers favourites in recent days with some reports suggesting the board will go for one of the club's former captains if they can't secure the appointment of Allegri to the Emirates this summer.

Allegri has just won his fourth consecutive Serie A title with the Old Lady and there've been doubts over whether he would leave Juve with guaranteed Champions League football to ply his trade with Arsenal who are competing in the Europa League.

Rumours then began making rounds on social media that Arteta could be the one to replace his former mentor after one ITK claimed that Arsenal had reached a verbal agreement with a mystery man and it would be leaked in the papers on Sunday.

However, Ornstein was quick to thrashed those rumours after taking to Twitter to offer an update of his won. The BBC journalist claims that the Gunner are not in anyway close to finding a new manager and they haven't even agreed on a preferred candidate to replace the Frenchman yet.
