Sky Sport pundit reaction to Xhaka performances against Man United

Arsenal legend and Sky Sports pundit Thierry Henry has criticized Granit Xhaka for his poor defending tactics that lead to Manchester United's opening goal in his former side's 2-1 loss to the Red Devils on Sunday evening at the Old Trafford. Several premier league predictions didn’t see this loss coming for Arsene Wenger and his men.

Xhaka was handed the captaincy armband for the day as Arsene Wenger made his final appearances as Arsenal boss at Old Trafford.

However, the Swiss international had a poor run in the first-half and he was widely criticized for his involvement in Paul Pogba's opener in the 16th minute heading into the game. The ex-Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder failed to track him down as Pogba's finishing from close range that saw Alexis Sanchez's header deflected onto the post by Hector Bellerin.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan ended up levelling the score against his former side with a fine low finish past David De Gea in the 51st minute. Though their effort in adding to the score was futile when Marouane Fellaini headed a goal in the 92nd minute.

However, the Arsenal legend Henry was clearly not impressed by what he saw from Xhaka in the lead-up to Manchester United’s opener on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking during Sky Sports' news coverage, the Arsenal legend comments showed he was clearly not impressed by the performance of Xhaka in the lead-up to the Red Devils' opener on Sunday afternoon.

Henry said:

"He does what he is supposed to do, he comes back. But then stay on your feet and see what happens, don’t dive in.

"Then he doesn’t track back. Then he was looking at it pulling his socks up and putting his shin-pads back on.
"You’re the captain! Turn, have a go, say something, be upset!"

Arsenal will now focus their strong attention back towards Europa League semi-finals second leg with La Liga giants Atletico Madrid who odds favorite in winning the competition this year on Thursday night.

Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw with the Rojiblancos in the first leg of the encounter at The Emirates last week. According to the Europa League odds the Gooners will have a small chance of winning this game.
