FRESH UPDATE: £49m Fee Agreed, Arsenal target To Complete Medicals This Week

Liverpool are closing in on a £49 million deal for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez who had earlier been linked with a move to Arsenal. It's believed Liverpool are considering moving in for Mahrez as a replacement to Philippe Coutinho, who has now traveled to Spain to finalize his move, according to Football Weeks' source.

beIN Sports via Metro also claim that the Merseyside are now in the process of signing Mahrez and will pay the Foxes €55m (£49m) for the services of the Algeria international. The report also claims Mahrez will undergo a medical on Sunday which if the reports bears fruit, the medicals should have be completed. It's also reported that Mahrez has agreed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Jurgen Klopp's side.

Chelsea were also said to be interested in signing the Algerian having raided the Foxes for N'Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater. Roma is also another side that wanted him in the summer transfer window but Leicester rejected their £35m offer. The Algerian was one of Leicester’s star players in their title-winning season two years ago, while this term he has scored seven goals and registered seven assists in 22 Premier League appearances.

Liverpool had also targeted a move for Thomas Lemar this month but Monaco insisted this week that the France international would not be allowed to leave before the end of the campaign. Klopp’s side had attempted to sign Lemar in the closing stages of the summer transfer window but the Ligue 1 champions refused all offers, including one from Arsenal.
