Arsenal trio sign new contracts

Arsenal have today announced new contracts for trio youngsters in the form of Eddie Nketiah, Ben Sheaf and Matt Macey as the trio commit their futures to the Gunners.

The club official site confirmed the news yesterday afternoon, in what looks a big boost for Arsene Wenger even if questions remain over more senior members of his squad.

The North London club have a proud record of promoting top young players into their side, with Hector Bellerin and Alex Iwobi among the most successful recent examples.

Jack Wilshere and Cesc Fabregas are also reasonably strong success stories under the Frenchman, while Nketiah has made something of a breakthrough for the club this season, along with the likes of Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who’ve all seen more playing time.

The ex-Chelsea striker Nketiah netted twice on just his second senior appearance for the Gunners, helping his side to a Carabao Cup win over Norwich City back in October.

The 18-year-old looks one of the biggest talents coming through the ranks at the Emirates Stadium right now, though Sheaf and Macey could also have their chance in the first-team before too long.

The Gunners fans will hope now that progress can also be made on Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Wilshere, all of whom are close to becoming free agents at the end of this season.
