Agent due in London: Arsenal set to open talks with £19.8m star ahead of January move

According to the Daily Mirror, France international Olivier Giroud is set to open serious talks with Arsenal this week ahead of the January transfer window.

Giroud has found his first-team chances in Arsene Wenger's first team limited since the signing of Alexandre Lacazette in the summer, starting just one Premier League match all season.

The Mirror reported that Giroud is worried about his place in the French squad for the next year's World Cup in Russia and could face the exit door at the Emirates next month with regular game time elsewhere.

The newspaper reveal Giroud's agent is due in London this week to open talks with Arsenal and come to a resolution to the situation, with a decision to be made on whether Giroud stays or leave the club.

Despite his shortened game time for Arsenal this season, the French striker has still played his part in the North London club's season, netting seven goals in total between the English top-flight and the UEFA Europa League.

Giroud is the obvious immediate back-up to his international teammate Lacazette and Wenger should put this into consideration about letting such a quality replacement leave the club.

Giroud, rated at £19.8m by Transfermarkt, any money Arsenal receive would likely be less than what it would take to replace the former Montpellier star.
