Arsenal finalize €2m move for Dortmund's Chief Scout Sven Mislintat


Arsenal has completed a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund chief scout Sven Mislintat, the club announced, with a fee of almost €2m reportedly agreed upon between the clubs.

Mislintat was tied under contact with the BvB until 2021, but now makes the switch to join Arsenal.

He has been credited with unearthing several of the Bundesliga club's most successful players in recent years, including players in the form of Robert Lewandowski, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Shinji Kagawa and Ousmane Dembele.

Arsenal approached him last week with a view to appointing him as a potential replacement for Steve Rowley, who leaves his role at chief scout but will remain with the club in a consultancy basis.

Arsenal are said to be looking to modernized their approach to transfers, and the Dortmund chief scout has been identified as the ideal man to begin the process.

“We are delighted that Sven is joining us," Wenger said in a club statement. "Identifying and developing talent is a core part of our philosophy and Sven has an outstanding track record over many years. We look forward to him taking our existing recruitment approach forwards.”

Bayern Munich attempted to appoint the German scout as its new technical director in August, but there move for him was unsuccessful.

He has emerged as one of the most sought-after talent spotters in Europe having achieved a remarkable success rate in Germany.

Mislintat has a close relationship with sporting director Michael Zorc, but he fell out with former coach Thomas Tuchel in January 2016 when the Bundesliga giants move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Oliver Torres collapsed.
